Birth Photography Packages in Puerto Rico: Pricing, Coverage and How to Reserve

3 min read

Birth photography packages at Photocabinet start at $1,250. The final price depends on what each package includes, and payment can be split into up to four installments during pregnancy.

This guide collects what families usually ask before booking: what determines the cost, how the payment plan works, which payment methods are accepted, how coverage works across the island and which contract terms to review with any photographer.

What determines the price of a package

A birth photography package covers weeks of availability, not a session of a few hours. The cost reflects:

  • The on-call period, which at Photocabinet runs from week 37 to week 42

  • Full coverage of the birth, from active labor through the first hour postpartum

  • The deliverables: high-resolution digital photographs, with or without documentary video

  • Editing time for the final gallery

  • A limited monthly calendar, which helps avoid date overlaps

When comparing two prices, confirm that both packages cover the same things. A difference in price usually matches a difference in coverage, availability or deliverables.

How to find an affordable birth photography package in Puerto Rico

The most practical way to keep a package within budget is to spread the payments across the pregnancy. At Photocabinet the plan has four installments, spread over the 17 weeks between week 20 and week 37:

When

Payment

After week 20

Deposit to reserve your date

Week 30

Second installment

Week 34

Third installment

Week 37

Final balance, when on-call begins

Families referred by their midwife receive a discount. Reserving soon after week 20 gives the most comfortable spacing between payments.

Accepted payment methods

Photocabinet accepts ATH Móvil, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, bank deposit and credit cards.

Can I hire a birth photographer in San Juan and other parts of Puerto Rico?

Yes. Photocabinet works with families in San Juan and across the island. Distance affects how early I leave: when a family lives far away, I sometimes leave during the latent phase of labor instead of waiting for active labor, and I leave as soon as your midwife confirms after a labor check that birth is imminent.

In a very fast birth, no one can guarantee arrival, wherever the family lives. Constant communication during the on-call period is what raises the chances of being there, and I am available around the clock from week 37.

Birth variations at no extra charge

The package price does not change for twins, breech births or any other variation. If the birth goes past week 42 with mother and baby healthy, on-call continues at no additional cost.

Photo publication and private license

Before the birth we agree on what can be published, and you sign a publication agreement when service begins. A preview arrives 24 to 48 hours after the birth and serves as the reference for what will be published. Families who prefer that nothing be published can choose a private license, which carries an additional cost of approximately $250 to $300.

What if the family transfers to a hospital?

If the hospital allows access, I continue documenting for an extra cost. Families should confirm this with the hospital before the birth.

How to reserve your date

A booking is confirmed once the deposit is received and the contract is signed. Because the monthly calendar is limited, checking availability during the second trimester gives you more date options and a longer payment plan.
